From Humble Beginnings

Our journey began in 1965 as a small, home-based family business in Ferntree Gully, Victoria. Originally focused on verandahs and patios, the business quickly gained a reputation for reliability. As demand grew, we transitioned into a dedicated factory on Ferntree Gully Road, marking the beginning of our era as a specialist steel manufacturer.

The "Rosebud" Innovation

In those early years, Shed City’s Rosebud Flat Pack Shed design became an overnight success. Customers travelled from across Victoria and beyond to see this versatile, easy-to-assemble product.

This innovation was the forerunner to the bolt-together design we use today. By perfecting this method of pre-manufacturing, we ensured that every customer received a high-quality, precision-engineered structure every time—a standard we still uphold in our modern garages, farm sheds, and carports.

Growth & The Move to Kilmore

By 1986, our success required a much larger footprint. Shed City moved its base of operations to Kilmore, Victoria, which remains our manufacturing headquarters and the site of our extensive display centre today.

Moving to Kilmore allowed us to scale our manufacturing capabilities while staying true to our roots as a regional Victorian business. It is here that we continue to innovate, using advanced fabrication techniques to turn Australian steel into structures that stand the test of time.
